Elsa Beskow was born in Stocholm (1874-1953). She had a mother, a father, four sisters and a brother in her family. When Elsa was 15 years old her father died and the whole family moved to her mother's siblings house, where they all lived together. Elsa's aunt and uncle became the real-life inspirations for characters Aunt Green, Aunt Brown, Aunt Lavender and Uncle Blue.
Elsa Beskow's drawings dominated the art in picture books for almost 50 years and many present artists are inspired by her art. In year 1952 she was rewarded with Nils Holgersson's plaque award. Elsa Beskow plaques are still awarded yearly for previous year's best children's fairy tale book or the best illustration in s children's book. First time it was given in year 1958, when they awarded Tove Jansson. Elsa Beskow is one of the Sweden's most famous children's authors and is one of the founders of Sweden's children's literature. She wrote and illustrated aprroximately 40 children's books.
Muurla's enamel products are handmade and because of that the look of the products might slightly differ from the picture. Every product is completely unique. Enamel is very durable material, but the surface might get broken because of a heavy impact.
